My poor veggies are taking some serious strain.
But, it's not as bad as Cape Town...
...never mind the wildfire which has devastated a good portion of the southern peninsular and continues to burn...
A chronicle of our family's transition to an off-grid, more self-sufficient and eco-friendlier lifestyle, sharing, wherever possible, helpful links and ideas, in order to ease anyone else's journey along this path
I'll take some of your heat in exchange for some of our cold air, freezing rain and snow..........no charge!!!
ReplyDeleteGill in Southern Ontario, Canada
Gill - Ditto - in reverse :)
DeleteI would even take our snow and ice over a fire. Fires can be more devastating than just about anything else. I live in fear of forest fire up here on the mountain.
ReplyDeleteHarry - Me too. We were once trapped in a runaway fire and had to drive directly through it to escape. The internal air circulation of the car made that escape possible, Very scary stuff.
DeleteUgg. Hope you get some relief soon.
ReplyDeleteBill - It was caused by a berg wind (off land wind). Thankfully that is gone and it is cooler today. But, we can smell smoke outside, so there must be a veld fire somewhere...
DeleteSorry for the delayed response - we lost our internet connection.
ReplyDeleteThe fire was on the mountain I see from my window, but with another suburb between us and the flames.
Diana - Just relieved that it was only your internet connection :)
DeleteDani, it's difficult enough to have to go through those hot temps in summer, but then to worry about fires on top of it. I totally understand, although we only get them occasionally. we do hit highs of almost 39 C here also. During that time we are so worried about fires, the mountains simmer in anger. And the news casters are always warning people not to burn, but there is forever it seems a careless person.
ReplyDeleteI hope that you manage to get a break from the heat soon.
Jen
Jen - It was caused by berg wind conditions. Thankfully, it only lasted a day. But, boy, that kind of heat seriously drains one...!
DeleteYeah, the fire in Cape Town has caused us to think on a wildfire in our area. Some serious maintenance needs to be done on the (vacant) neighbouring properties...
