"Self-sufficiency does not mean 'going back' to the acceptance of a lower standard of living. On the contrary, it is the striving for a higher standard of living, for food that is organically grown and good, for the good life in pleasant surroundings... and for the satisfaction that comes from doing difficult and intricate jobs well and successfully." Do you...

... vacuum your mattress when you change the sheets?

Would you like to know why you should?

  1. I don't vacuum EVERY time I change the sheets, but I do frequently. I know why.......

If there are any who don't then I reckon I'll do a blog post on it LOL

  2. We don't every time we change the sheets, maybe once every few months. Probably not as often as we should. I think we do it because we have cats and figure it gets up some extra cat that might be lurking...but I'm guessing there might be another "ugly" reason?? ;-)

  6. Uh Oh...I'm feeling VERY scared right now. I've never thought to vacuum my matress. I've got a mattress cover that gets washed 4 times a year (maybe). Go ahead tell me why.

(peeking through my fingers in horror....)

  7. Lol, I answered this, Dani, then thought it was a bit rude putting my "two cents" worth in so I deleted it! I'll wait to see if you and I clean mattresses, and other household furniture, for the same reason :).
I replace my bed pillow every 12-18 months as I have an unconcious sleeping habit that only a certain amount of washing and sunlight can erase *blush*.
    Cheers,
    Robyn

  8. Oh I know this is probably going to "gross" me out but ... yeah ... I want to know why. I don't vacuum my mattress regularly but I have a feeling I will be. :-)

  9. Not every week but a couple of times a month. AND!!! I spray it with a mixture of vinegar and EO. How good am I?! My concern is bedbugs...We don't have them, have never had them, but I read something, somewhere, sometime...I figure I'll get anything there but really do it just because I can and not out of any *fear* that we will be attacked by anything.

  12. Change the sheets? Just kidding, mine do get changed once in a blue moon. I WOULD like to know why I should vacuum the matress when I change the sheets though, because I don't know, and I do like to learn something new every day. Cleaning really is'nt my thing but I do try sometimes.

  13. No and no. 1st no because I never feel like my vacuum cleaner is actually all that clean. 2nd no because I'm sure its because of something nasty!

    1. Leigh - LOL - don't actually know which is worse - dirty vacuum cleaners or un-vacuumed mattresses... The "Yea's outweigh the "Nay's" - so please don't read today's post.

Thank you for taking the time to comment - it makes my day and removes the "loneliness' of sitting at my screen blogging supposedly to myself ;) I try and reply as quickly as possible so please forgive me if sometimes my response is delayed.
