"Self-sufficiency does not mean 'going back' to the acceptance of a lower standard of living. On the contrary, it is the striving for a higher standard of living, for food that is organically grown and good, for the good life in pleasant surroundings... and for the satisfaction that comes from doing difficult and intricate jobs well and successfully." John Seymour ~ Self Sufficiency 2003

Winter fun in the Northern hemisphere

This is from an e-mail I received this week (with no acknowledgement of origins of the photo's).

I loved it :)

And, I loved the sense of humour displayed in obviously otherwise weather. Humour is the only way to overcome discomfort - but, one is not always in the right frame of mind to see the fun side.

I hope these lighten the load for those in the midst of, or soon to be facing, extreme weather.

Favourite pic?  Mine is #9 - the car windscreens.

You can always tell when people up North get bored

    1. teeheeheee.....i loved the canadian vandalism one, too. but there is also an internet meme going around about the terrible problem that canada has with graffiti....it's pretty funny. the "canadian" graffiti written on the sides of buildings and bridges and whatnot says stuff like "i hope you all have a nice day", "make sure to kiss your mother before you leave for the day" and "it sure is nice to meet you". and lots of other funny canadian graffiti.

it kinda makes me proud to be canadian. much love always Dani. your friend,

  4. Love #9, but my personal favorite is #2. I'm afraid that by spring that's all you will be able to see of us here in the frozen north! :)

  7. The art in #6 is amazing. That would make me NOT want to wash my car, ha. But they are all wonderful. I don't know how some people are so creative, I could never come up with something like that, ha.

  8. Love them. I love the snow monsters from Calvin and Hobbes if you've ever read the cartoon strip?

  9. I like the second one best! I shall have a go at that if we have the snow we had a couple of years ago.
We had a sprinkle of snow today, but it soon turned to rain.

Thank you for taking the time to comment - it makes my day and removes the "loneliness' of sitting at my screen blogging supposedly to myself ;) I try and reply as quickly as possible so please forgive me if sometimes my response is delayed.
