"Self-sufficiency does not mean 'going back' to the acceptance of a lower standard of living. On the contrary, it is the striving for a higher standard of living, for food that is organically grown and good, for the good life in pleasant surroundings... and for the satisfaction that comes from doing difficult and intricate jobs well and successfully." John Seymour ~ Self Sufficiency 2003

Welcome

Welcome to my newest follower, Maree of Tarlton in Gauteng.

Her profile states:

"I am a watercolour wildlife and conservation artist and Nature Student living on my little piece of African soil, in love with life, chickens and nature! :: I sit and drink tea in the mornings, and come out at dusk to listen as the world tucks itself in for the night ::"

Maree is a gifted artist - her work is stunning.  Please, drop by her blogs and take a look.

Maree, thanks for hitting the followers button.  I always reply to comments, but it may sometimes be delayed due to our solar system not providing me the electricity to have some fun on my blog :)

  1. What is a follower? I see that frequently but I am not sure exactly what it is. Does it mean someone who is reading your blog regularly?

    1. Harry - It's someone who has hit the "Followers" button (situated on the right hand column of my blog below the Blog Archive list :) )

  2. Dani, Your blog is always so informative, and so cosmopolitan. I think of you often, usually when I am doing something like arranging water drainage from a barn gutter down to an area outside the corral. I always think you have a clearer idea of what to do than I. Today, my shoulders itch with sunburn.

    1. Jane - Wonderful words of praise - thank you :)

Glad to know that I'm in your thoughts, especially if it's to do with reducig your impact on this planet and your eco-footprint, and your dependence on your utilities :)

If you have any aloes close by, break off a leaf, split it long ways, and apply the inner sticky substance to your sunburnt area. Instant relief.

Thank you for taking the time to comment - it makes my day and removes the "loneliness' of sitting at my screen blogging supposedly to myself ;) I try and reply as quickly as possible so please forgive me if sometimes my response is delayed.
